I once worked with a guy (American) who claimed that guys (American) don’t generally make friends after high school and almost never after college. Until they get married, they ‘hang out with the guys.’ After marriage, they let their wives create the social life as a couple. I don’t know whether this is different in Columbia, or you just left at the cusp moment.
